課程概述	This course aims to provide students with the knowledge of how Modern American Poetry arose and continues to metamorphosize in response to the expansion of the metropolis in a transatlantic context. Special attention will be paid to how modern American poetry converges with and diverges from the continental modality.
課程目標	The goal of this course is to familiarize students with the various ways to read modern American poetry as a response to urbanity while driving home the point that not only modern American poetry but all modern poetry, must be read with reference to an underlying epistemology concerning urbanity, be it anti-urban, pro-urban or apparently non-urban. In more concrete terms, this course will enable students to understand Modernism as originally a transatlantic phenomenon from which an American version developed in accordance with the specificities of American urbanity.
